Hiya, thanks for stopping by!
I am Kortney, and this is my Food Allergy blog. I’m anaphylactic to peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame seeds. We discovered my peanut allergy at the tender age of three months after a small taste of peanut butter ended in a trip to the hospital. As a kid, I would throw-up all the time and be cranky after eating. Now that we think back on it, this always happened after I ate something I am now allergic to. My complete food allergy list is extensive (at the bottom), but it has not stopped me from eating great food!
A FOOD ALLERGY BLOG
I started this blog because I feel there aren’t enough adults talking about how they deal with their food allergies. Allergy Gil Eats is about everyday life with food allergies, going out with allergies, and recipes that are allergy friendly. I hope to provide tips, tricks, and a sense of community to those who are dealing with food allergies. Disclaimer: I am not a trained chef or an allergy expert, but I want to share my experiences, so those with allergies know they aren’t alone.
MORE ABOUT this allergy girl
I love chocolate, and my favourite thing to eat would have to be a chocolate sundae! I also love a simple pasta and dense bread (like this no-knead bread and this cake). I was a vegetarian (6 years), but I am now a pork lover, which is perfect since I live in Berlin and can eat schweinebraten all the time! In September 2015, I finished my second marathon and can’t wait for the next one.
I believe that food should be fun and we shouldn’t let our allergies stop the party. I’m excited you are here. Now let’s eat!
