Hiya, thanks for stopping by!
I am Kortney, and this is my Food Allergy blog. I’m anaphylactic to peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame seeds. We discovered my peanut allergy at the tender age of three months after a small taste of peanut butter ended in a trip to the hospital. As a kid, I would throw-up all the time and be cranky after eating. Now that we think back on it, this always happened after I ate something I am now allergic to. My complete food allergy list is extensive (at the bottom), but it has not stopped me from eating great food!
A Food Allergy Blog
I started this blog because I feel there aren’t enough adults talking about how they deal with their food allergies. Allergy Girl Eats is about everyday life with food allergies, going out with allergies, and recipes that are allergy friendly. I hope to provide tips, tricks, and a sense of community to those who are dealing with food allergies. Disclaimer: I am not a trained chef or an allergy expert, but I want to share my experiences, so those with allergies know they aren’t alone.
More about this allergy girl
Favourite kitchen gadget:
My skillet! I don’t know how I survived so long without one. Without it I would have never come up with one of my go to lunches: cow girl lunch.
Favourite place I’ve been:
Iceland! We fell in love with Iceland, so much so that we actually went back 6 months later to see it in the summer. My pro tip would be go in the winter because the light is out of this word gorgeous.
Relationship status – because I know I’d want to know that about you!:
I am married to my college sweet heart. You can read about how our first date ended with me having an anaphylactic reaction.
In August 2017, along with 3 others, we launched Allergy Travels. Allergy Travels is a website where you can rate and review countries and airlines based on their allergy friendliness.
Something to brag about:
I’ve run two marathons 😀
Food allergy motto:
I believe that food should be fun and we shouldn’t let our allergies stop the party.
