Life Post-Whole30

Life after whole30. What has the reset taught me about my relationship to food.

Can you believe it’s been a little over a month since I completed Whole30! With much reflection, I can tell you that my relationship with food has changed, whether for the best, I am not sure. I had a feeling about two-thirds of the way in that I may experience food guilt from Whole30. Indeed there has been guilt. It is triggered by knowing that there is a ‘better’ way to fuel my body than by cereal, chocolate, cheese, pasta, and all the other Whole30 contraband I love. I’m not only eating those delicious foods, but I’ve added them back into my diet and feel guilty for doing so. Continue reading

Whole30 Day 30: the last day!

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 30

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 30 - breakfast

It’s the last day of Whole30, and the reintroduction debate continues. Yes, I’ve felt the benefits of eating clean, but nothing has been overwhelming. So, dear readers, meet my lazy and defiant side. I’m not going to follow the complete reintroduction plan. I know… bad! This doesn’t mean tomorrow I’ll be eating pizza, toasting with wine, and snacking on sundaes. I’ll take it slow but not over ten days and not the way it is in the book (It Starts with Food). Continue reading

Whole30 Day 29: Bittersweet

Whole30 Meal Plan: Day 29

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 29: Bauernfrühstück, smoked salmon and zooedles, aubergine bolognese

One more day of Whole30 to go!

I opened my fridge this morning and for the first time since starting Whole30 my fridge is empty. I think it’s a subconscious way of preparing both mental and physical space for reintroducing foods back into our diet. We began Whole30 with a big grocery shop on day 1 and will be ending it the same way on day 30. This time our grocery basket will be full of beans, bread, and cheese!  Continue reading

Whole30 Day 28: Is there post-Whole30 guilt?

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 28

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 28 Leftovers! Lunch made of mixed leftovers

It’s hard to see/pinpoint what changes have happened in the last 28 days because everything is starting to feel normal. The most noticeable physical difference is my wedding ring sits loosely on my finger, and my pants fit a little better. Yes, weight loss is part of Whole30. I wonder if I have lost any weight or I was just inflamed (I kinda don’t want to step on the scale).  Continue reading

Whole30 Day 26: Coffee

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 26

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 26

A few days ago I started adding a little coconut milk into my coffee. I have since realized coffee with something creamy is a drink without brakes for me. This means I can drink it and drink it and drink it!  Continue reading

Whole30 Day 25: A Whole30 dinner party!

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 25

Whole30 Meal Plan: day 25 - potato, kale & sausage soup

We don’t want to make Whole30 any easier on ourselves, I tell you! This weekend we had friends visiting and decided to invite some more friends over for dinner. They knew coming to visit meant there would be no eating out, no going to bars, and no alcohol… for us that is! Inviting friends for dinner and not serving them wine would be weird, right?  Continue reading

Whole30 Day 24: Give it time

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 24 - lunch-4

The thing about blogging each day of Whole30 is you get to witness the ups and downs of the program as they happen. And boy have I had my fair share in the last 24 days. Naturally, it will be different for everyone. This has been hard for me, but my hubby is taking it like a champ! See everybody is different even if you have the same diet! Continue reading

Whole30 Day 23: To skip the reintroduction or not to skip?

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 23

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 23: turkey breast and roasted veggies

I may have had some icky side effects, but I can see why people LOVE Whole30. At day 23 I am starting to see the benefits of a super clean and whole diet. The one biggie is my energy level, which is consistent throughout the day. I don’t experience any more ‘crashes.’ My energy level is even and feels lighter. So obviously I am wondering what’s causing this awesomeness, which brings me to the reintroduction… dun dun duuuun!  Continue reading

Whole30 Day 22: Grateful

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 22

Whole30 Meal Plan Day 22 - breakfast- potato pancakes and smoked salmon

The Whole30 journey is about more than just food.

Whole30 has given me a new perspective on my food allergies: gratefulness. I am so grateful for what I can eat. After going 22 days without grains, sugar, dairy, legumes, and alcohol, I have learned just how much is out there for me to enjoy!  Continue reading
